Environment Coordinator. With over 45 years of experience, Sureway Construction

JOB DESCRIPTION

Sureway Construction Group Ltd. is a multi-faceted
organization which includes extensive sand and gravel land reserves held under
the Yellowhead Aggregates and Sil Industrial Minerals corporate groups.  Sureway Construction Group Ltd. is seeking a
full-time Senior Land and Environment Coordinator. Reporting to the Land and
Environment Manager, this position is responsible for the various duties and
responsibilities associated with planning, permitting, compliance, monitoring
and reclamation of our pit operations.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1.   
Planning, coordination, execution and senior
review of reclamation assessments, pre-disturbance assessments and wetland
assessments

2.   
Planning and coordination of reclamation programs

3.   
Completion of Code of Practice for Pits
registration applications, Conservation and Reclamation Business Plans and
Water Act applications

4.   
Completion of county Development Permit
Applications

5.   
Involved in compliance and monitoring
requirements associated with pit operations, including water sampling,
piezometer measurements, pit dewatering volume tracking and complete of annual
reports for provincial regulators (Alberta Environment and Parks)

6.   
Assist in the public consultation processes
associated with our operations, including attending public hearings and
conducting landowner consultations

7.   
Provide mentorship and training for junior and
intermediate staff

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLS

 

·        
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience

·        
A minimum of 2 years of project management
experience with a focused background in environmental site assessment and
planning/permitting

·        
Strong knowledge of Alberta Environment and
Parks regulations and guidelines

·        
Experience should include managing environmental
site assessment programs, including reclamation assessments, pre-disturbance
assessments and wetland assessments

·        
Experience in the completion of Phase I and
Phase II Environmental Site Assessment projects is an asset

·        
Experience and knowledge of the mining industry
is an asset

·        
Consistency and dependability in task
completion

·        
Strong communication and leadership skills

·        
Strong analytical and technical writing skills

·        
Excellent organizational skills

·        
Ability to work in a fast-paced,
multi-disciplinary project team environment


EDUCATION 

·        
A university degree in environmental sciences

·        
Professional designation with the Alberta
Institute of Agrologists or Alberta Society of Professional Biologists is a
requirement
