Occupational Health and Safety and the preservation of the environment is the first priority of Sureway Construction. We believe that every worker is entitled to a healthy work environment. The importance of that belief supersedes all other primary interests of a successful company. In interest of securing that our priorities are met, we empower each employee from our front line workers, from management to our executive with the responsibility to ensure the health and safety of themselves, their co-workers and the people who surround us. Sureway’s Health and Safety program focuses on continuous improvement. We incorporate a comprehensive training program tailored to the varying positions across our organization. Sureway reviews our training program as conditions change, as well as conducting companywide audits of our program annually. Potential improvements are identified and addressed utilizing the seasonal nature of our operations.
Our formal safety program includes involvement in trend-setting external safety committees such as the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association Safety Committee and the Edmonton Regional Safety Committee (in association with Alberta Construction Safety Association) and the Construction Owners of Alberta (COOA) Safety Committee. Sureway's participation in these committees has allowed us to be in the forefront of development and legislation of industry-related training and safety procedures. In the last four years, Sureway has substantially reduced its numbers of lost time claims, overall claims costs and injury severity. This is a direct result of our commitment to improvement and our goal of providing the safest possible work environment. Sureway's ongoing focus is on improving and reworking our processes to achieve our goal of zero loss. We are members of the following organizations: |
